Young people paying it back to the community on World Homeless Day
To mark World Homeless Day, a group of young people who have benefited from Grŵp Cynefin’s homelessness services themselves came together with staff to make a meaningful impact in their community.
After discussing the significance of the day, the group suggested creating snack packs to hand out to those in need.
Yr Hafod, located in Grŵp Cynefin’s HWB Dinbych community hub offers young people a safe place to live while helping them develop essential life skills. This includes exploring education, volunteering and employment opportunities, and preparing for independent living. It forms part of Gorwel, Grŵp Cynefin’s homelessness prevention service.
The young people from Yr Hafod took the lead, working with staff to plan, shop, and assemble the packs. They chose the contents themselves, thinking carefully about what would be most useful and comforting. It was a brilliant example of compassion in action and a chance to build confidence, budgeting skills, and teamwork.
Grŵp Cynefin is proud of their initiative and the heart they’ve shown – small acts of kindness can go a long way.
