National recognition for Grŵp Cynefin for involving tenants and for a community initiative in Denbigh

Grŵp Cynefin housing association has gained national recognition for their work in putting tenants at the heart of its services, and for an exciting community initiative in Denbigh. The TPAS Cymru annual awards ceremony, held this year in Cardiff (17/06/26), recognises good practice among Welsh housing associations, specifically for involving tenants and communities in their daily work and in terms of shaping their services.

The first prize was awarded for Involving Tenants When Designing or Reviewing Services. Specifically, for the ‘From Tenants’ Voices to Better Decisions: Co-designing and Improving Grŵp Cynefin’s Retrofit Services’ project, where tenants are involved in shaping designs and improving services. By listening carefully to feedback, and responding, practical changes are made to improve tenants’ experiences on a day-to-day basis.

Grŵp Cynefin also came third in the Communities Supporting Communities category for the Bumps and Jumps project in Denbigh. The project, which involved designing and creating a pump track for young people to ride bikes, skateboards, scooters and wheelchairs, was a partnership between Grŵp Cynefin, HWB Dinbych, Active North Wales, Youth Services, Denbighshire County Council, Denbigh Town Council and local residents. The project stemmed from local young people who wanted a safe place to cycle, which resulted in this youth led initiative. The group of 13–17-year-olds were involved at every stage of the design and development. and their voices central to the process, from start to finish.

Nerys Price-Jones, Director of People and Culture at Grŵp Cynefin, said:

‘We are extremely proud of this recognition. It reflects the hard work of our teams, our partners, our tenants and our communities. By listening to people’s voices and working together, we create better services and real opportunities for young people to flourish.’

These awards reflect Grŵp Cynefin’s dedication to working with partners and communities to make a real difference.
