Building Relationships and Creating Opportunities for Local Businesses

This week, Grŵp Cynefin welcomed flooring contractors from across north Wales and north Powys to its Becoming a Flooring Contractor events, in Penygroes and Denbigh. The sessions provided an opportunity to share details of an upcoming flooring contract, explain procurement requirements, offer practical tendering guidance and help businesses understand how to access future opportunities.

The events were delivered in partnership with Sell2Wales and Business Wales.

The event attracted a good number of small and medium contractors, and the discussions highlighted the expertise and enthusiasm within the local supply chain. It was particularly encouraging to see SMEs and contractors at different stages of their journey, all keen to learn more about procurement and explore opportunities to work with Grŵp Cynefin.

At Grŵp Cynefin, building trusted commercial relationships, delivering value for money and creating social value are central to how the organisation works. As set out in the Corporate Plan, Lle i Berthyn 2025-2028, strong partnerships play an important role in supporting investment in homes, services and communities, while creating opportunities for local businesses to grow and thrive.

Betsan Ifan, Head of Business Improvement, Grŵp Cynefin, says:

“At Grŵp Cynefin, we’re committed to making procurement as accessible and transparent as possible. These events gave us an opportunity to build relationships with local contractors, share practical advice and help businesses develop the confidence to engage with future opportunities.

“This was the first event of its kind and were really pleased by the level of interest and engagement on both days. We’re looking forward to continuing these conversations as we strengthen our supplier network across north Wales and north Powys.”

Dafydd Guto Carrod, Senior Supply Chain Adviser, Business Wales says:

“Early engagement like this plays an important role in helping businesses understand procurement opportunities and prepare to compete with confidence. We look forward to exploring how Business Wales can collaborate further with Grŵp Cynefin support local suppliers through the tendering process and help them access future opportunities.”
