Grŵp Cynefin backs national effort to address anti-social behaviour during ASB Awareness Week 2025

Grŵp Cynefin is proud to stand with organisations across Wales and the rest of the UK in support of ASB Awareness Week 2025, a national campaign running from 30 June – 6 July,  to take a stand against anti-social behaviour (ASB) and promote safer communities.

Now in its fifth year, ASB Awareness Week 2025 highlights the impact that ASB has on victims and communities, raises awareness of the support available to victims, promotes partnership working, bringing together councils, housing associations, police, charities, youth organisations and community groups, reflective of the fact that everyone has a role in tackling ASB.

Grŵp Cynefin promotes and supports tenants having a good relationship with their neighbours as we believe all our tenants should enjoy a safe and welcoming neighbourhood. Any form of harassment, verbal or physical abuse is considered serious and we do not accept any form of anti-social behaviour or prohibited conduct in our homes.

We have recently launched a new policy co-designed with our tenants – Good Neighbourhood Management Policy. The policy aims to empower our tenants to have conversations with neighbours when something’s worrying them e.g. noise, or behaviour, that is not considered ASB. Sharon Morris, Director of Neighbourhoods at Grwp Cynefin says: “We want to make sure that our tenants feel safe in their homes and we will not tolerate anti-social behaviour or prohibited conduct.

“Whether this be vandalism, noise nuisance, intimidating or threatening behaviour, racial harassment or anything else that is considered anti-social behaviour, we simply will not accept it and there are robust measures to deal with such behaviour to protect our tenants.

“Awareness campaigns such as this week are important to highlight the issues and hopefully empower tenants to speak out and not suffer ASB in silence.”

Recent research from YouGov, commissioned by Resolve, found that:

  • Nearly 1 in 5 people have considered moving home due to ASB.
  • 1 in 10 have actually moved.
  • Despite this, over half of those who experienced or witnessed ASB did not report it.

Rebecca Bryant OBE, Chief Executive of Resolve, said:

“ASB is not low-level. It can have a devastating and long-lasting impact on individuals and communities and often escalates to increasingly harmful behaviour.

“We are delighted that Grwp Cynefin is backing this vital campaign. It is only through strong local partnerships that we can meet the growing challenge of ASB and ensure people feel safe where they live.”

If you are affected by ASB, you can report it to your local council’s ASB team or call the police if you are in immediate danger. Don’t suffer in silence—help and support are available.
