Changes to electricity meters Economy 7 / Economy 10 / Option 14

Do you have Economy 7 / Economy 10 / Option 14 electricity meter?
Just a quick note to let you know of an upcoming change that could affect your electricity and heating costs.
2.5% of households in the UK have an electric meter which works off a Radio Tele-switch Service (RTS).
On 30 June 2025, the Radio Tele-switch Service (RTS), which helps electricity meters switch between cheaper rates outside peak hours, will be switched off.
If you have an RTS electricity meter (see photos below), your energy bills may increase if the meter does not automatically change as before. You could be without heat or hot water after this date if the meter is not upgraded.
As your landlord, we advise you to contact your energy supplier as soon as possible before the switch-off date of 30 June 2025.
What should you do?
Check your meter type – If you’re not sure if you have an RTS electric meter, give your energy supplier a call. See photos of affected meters below. Ask for a smart meter – Your supplier should offer to upgrade the meter for free, helping you save money during off-peak hours.
