Right to Buy abolished in Wales

The right of housing association tenants to buy or acquire their home will end on 26th January 2019.

Welsh Government has published an information guide to help explain what tenants need to know about the end of the Right to Buy and Right to Acquire, and what you should do if you are a tenant thinking about applying to buy your home: Click here to download other formats are also available here.

Four local authorities in Wales currently have a Right to Buy suspension in place and therefore the Right To Buy and the Right to Acquire no longer exists. The counties we operate in which are effected as a result of this suspension include: Denbighshire, Flintshire and Isle of Anglesey.

Further information can also be found on how the legislation was passed on the National Assembly for Wales website click here.

The end of the Right to Buy and Right to Acquire will not affect Grŵp Cynefin tenants in any other way.
