CIH Cymru and Grŵp Cynefin welcome Minister to the first in a series roundtable discussions

The Minister for Housing and Regeneration, Rebecca Evans AM, will attend a roundtable discussion at Grŵp Cynefin offices in Holyhead on 15 March.

This session is the first in a series of informal round-tables with CIH Cymru members and partners that the Minister has agreed to take part in around Wales.

The aim is to allow housing professionals, at all levels, to discuss the key issues facing the housing sector, and this particular session is being held in partnership with Grŵp Cynefin at its Penucheldre
Extra Care Scheme in Holyhead.

Matt Dicks, Director of CIH Cymru said: “It’s fantastic that the Minister has agreed to take part in these informal roundtables with CIH Cymru members.

“It demonstrates that the Welsh Government is serious about listening to the voice of the sector and hearing about the issues that members face on a daily basis.

“They are the ones at the coalface, delivering on the government’s strategy to tackle homelessness, and the shortage in supply of social and affordable housing.

“I would also like to thank Grŵp Cynefin for agreeing to host the event.”

Minister for Housing and Regeneration Rebecca Evans said: “I want to listen and learn from the experience of the people working in the housing sector, to understand from them what is working and what we need to do differently.

“Working together, I believe we can achieve a great deal to improve the lives of people in Wales, and to ensure that everybody has access to safe, high quality and affordable accommodation.”

Grŵp Cynefin, Chief Executive Shan Lloyd Williams said: “We are delighted to host the first ever CIH Cymru round table meeting with the Minister for Housing and Regeneration, Rebecca Evans AM.

“During our meeting we will be sharing our vision for Grwp Cynefin, and indeed the Welsh Housing sector, with the Minister, which is to provide high quality homes, excellent services and develop sustainable communities where people wish to live.

“We will also take the opportunity to raise issues facing tenants and households living in rural communities.”
